Unusual Insurance Claim of the Week
In the course of an hour-long full-body massage, a therapist with years of experience gave her normal neck and shoulder massage. When the hour was up, the client thanked her and expressed encouraging words about her technique. Two days later, the client showed up at an emergency hospital clinic and was diagnosed with having a detached supraspinatus muscle.
The insurance claim filed against the massage therapist and paid by Massage Magazine Insurance Plus’s broker totaled $150,000.
Naturally, this is a very unusual happenstance. And no one knows for certain what the client did during the two days before he went to the hospital. But the claim was filed and it was determined the claim was credible. Payment was made.
