Bodyworker Liability Insurance
Massage Magazine Insurance Plus has designed a liability insurance policy that meets the needs of the professional bodywork industry. Our insurance covers professionals in over 450 modalities, anywhere you provide services in the U.S.

Policy Options
Massage Magazine Insurance Plus has three policy options that range from $159 to $299, depending on which option you choose: part-time, full-time, or two-year. Other insurance providers change coverage limits based on a practitioner's full-time or part-time status, but we take a different approach. Regardless of which policy option you choose, bodyworkers will be provided with the same comprehensive coverage and exclusive membership benefits.
$169 - 1 Year
Our most popular policy option: built for the full-time bodywork professional.
$159 - Part-Time
This policy is designed for professionals who work with clients less than 10 hours per week.
$299 - 2 Year
Save the most money with our 2-year policy that breaks down to only $149 per year.
Covers Dual Practitioners
MMIP automatically covers professionals in over 450+ modalities and disciplines, including:
However, there are some techniques we do not cover. Go to our policy exclusions page to see the full list.

Why Do Bodyworkers Need Liability Insurance?
Anyone who provides professional services needs liability insurance, especially bodywork professionals who work so closely with clients. Bodywork insurance safeguards professionals against the financial fallout of lawsuits and claims.
These are the most common claims we see arise against bodyworkers that insurance with Massage Magazine Insurance Plus would cover:
- A client sustained burns from hot stones
- A client alleges a back injury due to too much pressure
- A client alleges shoulder injury from improper stretching
- A massage table broke causing a client to fall to the floor and sustain injuries
- A client alleges an allergic reaction from products used
Liability Insurance Limits
1 Additional Insured: $10 | Unlimited Additional Insureds: $30
Some massage insurance policies offer different limits based on your full-time or part-time status. This would mean that if you are a part-time massage therapist, you may have less coverage than a full-time one.
We don’t believe in offering different coverage limits, so all our policies have the same limits. Full-time, part-time, or student, all members enjoy the same great coverage. Our massage insurance program prices are based on how you use the coverage and decide to pay.
Professional Liability Insurance: Also known as "malpractice insurance" or "errors and omissions insurance," covers claims related to professional negligence, including instances like burns from hot stones or injuries during a deep tissue massage.
General Liability Insurance: Provides protection from claims that may not directly stem from your professional services. For example, if a client simply tripped and fell on your property, this coverage would protect you from the financial fallout of the lawsuit.
This coverage can help protect you if you’re accused of libel, slander, or false advertising.
Provides protection against identity theft and threat incidents that would put personal information at risk. Typically includes credit monitoring, dark web scans, and recovery services if your information is jeopardized.
Types Of Liability Insurance Every Bodyworker Needs
Getting into the liability portion of bodywork insurance in a little more detail, we’ll look at what each of the “big 3” liability protections provide and what to look for when comparing your options.
General Liability: general liability coverage provides protection against injuries or property damage that happen to a third party in, or around, your bodywork practice. General liability is one you’ve probably heard called “slip and fall” since this accident unfortunately is common.
All it can take is a slip at your front door on a loose mat and a client can sustain serious injuries. If they decide to sue to get you to cover their costs, you’ll also have to pay for legal defense. That’s why all of our policies cover both the costs of the claim and any legal defense fees that are necessary to protect you.
Professional Liability: professional liability insurance for bodyworkers centers around protecting them from accidents, injuries, and property damage that happen as a result of the services they provided someone. In bodywork, seeking realignment of body and mind could push a client too far and they tear a muscle, another could simply roll off the table and get hurt—accidents, unfortunately, abound which is why professional liability (aka malpractice or errors and omissions) insurance is so vital.
Getting Insurance in Minutes with No Quoting Process
For those that are shopping around for bodywork insurance—congratulations! You are being smart about a big decision. But one of the most annoying things hands down with a lot of insurance companies is when you have to start filling out a long application with tons of really personal data just to get a price. We don’t do things that way because we wouldn’t want to do it that way ourselves.
Right on our site, you can see exactly what you’ll pay and all the coverage and benefits you’ll get without ever having to give us any information whatsoever. Use this information however you like but we do truly hope it leads you to secure great coverage at a great price from a truly great group of people!

Bodyworker Insurance FAQs
There are several options for bodyworker insurance from Massage Magazine Insurance Plus that will affect the cost of your coverage. MMIP also offers the same excellent coverage for students for an annual premium of just $49.
You have the option to pay in full or pay monthly installments on your premium, giving you the flexibility of choosing your payment method. If you choose to pay monthly, over 12 months, your cost will be as low as $16 a month for a single year of coverage.

Though it will only take a few minutes, the peace of mind that you gain from bodyworker insurance will last much longer.
Though the bodyworker insurance from MMIP encompasses both professional and general liability insurance, there is a distinct difference between the two coverages. A good way to think about it is that professional liability insurance is for profession-specific instances involving carelessness or malpractice. Professional liability insurance would be to cover a lawsuit in the event of an injury or harm caused by you directly or by your error.
General liability insurance is often referred to as “slip and fall” insurance because it is a common incident that takes place. General liability insurance would be necessary for injuries that occur due to a loose rug, wet floor, or some other hazard. General liability insurance offers protection from the cost of a lawsuit that is brought against you for an accidental injury due to negligence.
Though it is common to have a minimum requirement of CE hours for insurance providers to supply bodyworker insurance for you, MMIP does not require this. Your state may require you to have a certain number of CE hours to continue practicing, but we do not require it for bodyworker insurance coverage.
Because we offer bodyworker insurance for students and offer instant proof of insurance, nothing should stand in your way of getting the insurance protection you need. Get covered today and place your bodyworker insurance needs in our hands.
These days, insurance is not just about the coverage, but about what you get as added benefits to your insurance. MMIP offers some incredible additional benefits that are designed specifically for bodyworker professionals. These benefits include:
- Access to free CE courses
- Portable coverage to take with you all over the United States
- Deep discounts on incredible industry leaders for equipment, oils, and other items that you use every day
- Access to affordable health insurance plans
- Fast and instant coverage
Yes, we offer monthly payment options via PayPal’s Pay Monthly credit program. While this is convenient, we advise paying in full upfront to avoid credit checks. PayPal will divide your total policy cost and a small service fee into monthly installments. Be aware that a credit check is required, and there’s no interest if paid off within six months. After six months, interest may apply.
Yes, you are covered for services at both locations. Our policy protects you whether you’re working in your office or at a client’s home. As long as you're following local or state laws, your coverage applies across all 50 states.
Yes! You can buy a policy now and choose a start date within the next three months. For instance, if you purchase on February 1 but want coverage to begin on March 23, simply choose March 23 as your start date during checkout.
You can access your certificate of insurance by logging into your online member portal and selecting the "Certificate of Insurance" option. If you need assistance, give us a call and we’ll email it to you.
Filing a claim is easy! Contact our Operations Team at sarasota.bsd.operations@ajg.com to get started. They’ll verify your coverage and ask you to complete a Claim Summary Form. Depending on the situation, they may also request additional documentation. We’ll guide you through the next steps.
The difference is based on the number of hours you work with clients each week. If you work 10 or fewer hours, a part-time policy is right for you. If you work more than 10 hours weekly, you'll need a full-time policy. Business tasks like marketing and admin work don't count toward these hours, and both policies offer the same coverage limits.
