Be at least 18 years old
The candidate must obtain a favorable outcome from a fingerprint record check administered by both the Georgia Crime Information Center and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Submit a completed application form along with a $125 fee
While Georgia does not legally mandate massage liability insurance, it strongly encourages therapists to consider its importance. Passing the National Certification Examination for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCETMB) or an equivalent exam approved by the state board
Licensed therapists must also fulfill continuing education requirements by completing 25 board-approved CEU hours biennially. Failure to renew the license or meet the continuing education requirement can result in license revocation.

Everything You Need to Know About Renewals in Georgia
To maintain an active license, it is necessary to complete the licensure renewal process before October 31st of even-numbered years to prevent incurring any additional fees.
Please note that a $5.00 online processing fee will be applied.
Continuing Education (CE) Requirements: 24 CE hours every 2 years. A minimum of 12 out of the total 24 CE Hours must consist of direct hands-on supervised instruction. The remaining 12 CE Hours can be fulfilled through either direct hands-on supervised instruction or other massage therapy-related CE hours.
- Renewal Fee: The fee for a two-year license renewal is $75 (non-refundable), which can be processed online.
- Late renewal fee: $150.00
Background Check: A comprehensive background check will be carried out, utilizing fingerprint records obtained from the Georgia Crime Information Center and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The applicant will be held accountable for covering all fees associated with the process.
