Better Coverage, Better Benefits & Peace of Mind for Myofascial Therapists |

An Insurance Policy Designed for Active Myofascial Therapists
What is Active Myofascial Therapy?
Active Myofascial Therapy - The Diamond Method™ encompasses the biopsychosocial approach for pain relief, improved ease of movement, and kinesthetic awareness. The science and reported anecdotal responses from patients and clients who've received AMT supports our belief that Active Myofascial Therapy is more effective than passive modalities of traditional physical therapy, chiropractic treatments, massage therapy, and other therapies where the patient passively receives their treatment. Following a 7-step DIAMOND success framework, the therapeutic intervention includes manually-applied pressure while the client actively engages muscles and moves joints, therapeutic exercise to strengthen, stretch, stabilize, and provide neurological feedback.
AMT continues to evolve with scientific knowledge about therapeutic mechanisms and outcomes, incorporating more factors than just a simple tissue-based orientation and is consistent with modern anatomy, physiology, pathology, psychology, neuroscience, and pain science. Guided conversation with a specific focus on self-efficacy facilitates immediate positive change, usually within the first session. The Diamond Method™ teaches therapists to create treatment plans to best help their clients relieve or achieve their clinical goals for long-lasting results. Although the reference to “Myofascial Therapy” might indicate adherence to earlier tissue-based explanatory mechanisms that the modern pain science community has moved past, it is instead a link to the history which officially began in 1988 and is used for marketing purposes, since now informed clients specifically request Active Myofascial Therapy.

Even for Practiced Therapists, Accidents Happen
Active myofascial therapy is, well, active. This practice relies on movement to help guide clients through a therapy session to leave them feeling rejuvenated. These movements require keen observation and guidance from a practiced therapist in order to get the desired results and to prevent mishaps.
However, even the very best active myofascial therapists, exercising extreme caution, can still face an unexpected event at some point in their career. Myofascial insurance is a safety net for your career, providing protection from many forms of liability. While many insurance companies will stop at general and professional liability, additional coverage is required to adequately cover professionals working in today’s health climate.

What Myofascial Therapy Insurance Covers
At only $159 per year of coverage, professionals offering myofascial therapy get comprehensive liability insurance to protect themselves through every step of their career. This program was designed just for myofascial therapists and includes professional liability (also called malpractice insurance), general liability (also known as slip and fall), and product liability coverage.
This program also includes rental damages coverage, stolen equipment coverage, and even an identity protection plan. All of this is provided under what’s known as occurrence form coverage. This allows policyholders to submit a claim even after their policy expires! Learn more about why occurrence form is the preferred coverage type for health and wellness professionals.
Coverage for the Real World
Sometimes imagining what myofascial insurance covers can be hard. Let’s run through some all-too-possible scenarios today’s therapists can face at some point in their careers:
General Liability Scenario - an elderly client trips over your doorway’s loose threshold and injures themself after falling. You receive a demand letter for all of their medical bills. MMIP myofascial insurance provides $3 million for each occurrence and $3 million in total for claims falling under general liability.
Professional Liability Scenario - during a therapy session, a larger client slips out of your grasp as you perform The Diamond Method. They strain their back as a result and hold you responsible for the costs of their rehabilitation. For claims related to professional liability, you’d also have $2 million per occurrence and $3 million in total.
Product Liability Scenario - a brand of disinfectant you use to sanitize your studio causes one client to have a bad allergic reaction. The reaction is so severe that an ambulance is called and the client is hospitalized. Some time later, you receive notice that they hold you responsible and demand you pay all of their medical bills, as well as their lost wages. With this insurance plan, you’d have all the way up to $2 million in total for claims falling under product liability coverage.
Rental Damage Scenario - you are moving some furniture into your rented space and tear up a few of the walls. Your landlord says all of the repairs are your responsibility. Our policy includes up to $100,000 to cover damages like this example.
Stolen Equipment Scenario - while getting to your car after a mobile massage session, a robbery by force leaves you shaken and your table and supplies stolen. With MMIP, you are immediately eligible to get up to $1,000 with a $250 deductible to replace these.
Identity Theft Scenario - you are just getting your practice online when you receive notice that your identity has been stolen and was used to make fraudulent purchases. MMIP insurance includes up to $25,000 worth of identity restoration services to immediately start getting your life back together.
Myofascial insurance provides you with the vital coverage your career needs to weather unforeseen events. The risks of not having insurance when a liability pops up far greater than the cost.
Active Myofascial Insurance for Students
If you are a student studying to become an Active Myofascial Therapist, we strongly encourage you to consider getting yourself insured now. Even while in school, students face many of the same liabilities as professionals. Without insurance, a claim here could sideline a career before it’s even started. At a little more than $2 per month, the cost of a students-only insurance plan compared to what you receive in coverage and benefits is pretty hard to beat.
