Beauty Liability Insurance Limits
1 Additional Insured: $10 | Unlimited Additional Insureds: $30
Some beauty liability insurance providers offer different limits depending on whether you work full-time or part-time. That leaves part-time professionals with less protection when they need it most.
At Massage Magazine Insurance Plus, all policyholders receive the same high-quality coverage limits regardless of work status. Whether you're full-time, part-time, or just starting your career, your protection stays consistent. Pricing is simply based on how often you practice and the policy option you choose.
Professional Liability Insurance: Also called malpractice or errors and omissions insurance, this coverage helps protect beauty professionals from claims related to the services they provide. This includes allegations of negligence, accidental injuries, or client claims involving treatments or procedures performed during appointments.
General Liability Insurance: Protects against common business-related accidents that may happen in or around your workspace. For example, if a client slips and falls during a visit, this coverage helps protect you from the potential financial and legal costs.
Provides protection for claims involving libel, slander, false advertising, or other advertising-related issues connected to your business or marketing materials.
Provides protection against identity theft and threat incidents that would put personal information at risk. Typically includes credit monitoring, dark web scans, and recovery services if your information is jeopardized.
DO BEAUTY PROFESSIONALS NEED INSURANCE?
Yes. Beauty professionals should carry liability insurance because even routine services can come with unexpected risks. Whether you’re a cosmetologist, esthetician, makeup artist, nail tech, massage therapist, or other beauty professional, insurance helps protect your career from costly claims and accidents. Even in well-run businesses, situations happen unexpectedly. Beauty liability insurance provides an important layer of financial and professional protection when those situations arise.
In many cases, carrying liability insurance is more than a recommendation—it may be required to work in a salon, spa, rental suite, wellness center, or other professional setting. Many landlords, employers, and business partners request proof of coverage before allowing beauty professionals to provide services on-site. Because beauty treatments often involve direct client contact, professional products, chemicals, heated tools, and specialized techniques, maintaining both General Liability and Professional Liability insurance is considered a standard best practice for protecting your business, reputation, and personal assets.
Carrying insurance also strengthens the credibility of your professional reputation. Many clients, landlords, salons, and professional partners view liability coverage as part of operating a responsible and trustworthy beauty practice.

Professional Beauty Insurance Frequently Asked Questions
Our professional beauty insurance actively protects professionals from the many different forms of risks they’ll face every day in the industry. This includes:
- General liability - covers policyholders from third party claims relating to an injury. This type of coverage is deliberately broad (hence, “general”) to cover the many different types of accidents that can happen. A new client tripping over your front door mat can be all it takes to suddenly be facing a general liability claim against you.
- Professional liability - covers the policyholder from claims related to malpractice, or the actual services they were performing when an injury occurs.
- ID Protection - coverage that reimburses the insured for expenses arising from identity fraud.
With MMIP, yes you can. Some policies fall under a claims made policy but ours use the industry-preferred type which is occurrence form. Claims made policies are clear cut, you have to file a claim while the policy is still active in order to be considered. If you have a session on the last day of your policy, but a claim comes days later, you simply wouldn’t be able to file for this claim.
Occurrence form coverage takes a more realistic approach and says you can still file a claim after the policy expires as long as the claim event happened during the active term. This important distinction can mean the difference between full coverage and no coverage at all so always make sure your policy uses occurrence form.
Absolutely. There are many occasions where an additional insured is needed on a policy so we make it easy to add as many additional insureds as is needed. As an example, being added as an additional insured may be required by landlords that don’t want to be held liable for something arising from the activities of their tenants.
Slip and fall accidents are unfortunately an all too common type of claim that can happen to anyone who opens their doors for business. General liability coverage is also called “slip and fall insurance” since this type of injury and ensuing claim event is a common category. If your client gets injured while seeing you to receive services , they may decide to file suit against you to get restitution. With MMIP’s beauty liability insurance, you’d have all the way up to $3 million to cover both the costs of the general liability claim and any legal defense fees, if they’re necessary.
Beauty professionals can get our all-encompassing insurance policy tailored for your career at the low annual rate of just $169. Part-time policies began at $159.
Beauty spas do usually carry some insurance for their employees, but this can be a small amount of coverage and commonly they’ll have shared annual aggregates. This means that the coverage amount can be depleted by other members in the group before you get a chance to use it. To get the peace of mind knowing you’re covered no matter what, and at just $169 per year, having your own beauty insurance policy is the way to go.
Your beauty insurance policy is flexible and travels with you. Whether you are providing massage services to clients in the comfort of their own homes or you are working at a local spa, you are protected.
The massage liability policy from Massage Magazine Insurance Plus provides peace of mind and the ability to grow your massage practice as much as you desire.
